St. Clement of Romeo Parish at 343 South Main Street, Romeo , MI 48065-5185 US - Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
How do we schedule an infant baptism?
If you are a first-time parent, arrange to attend one preparation class for infant baptism. Classes are usually held the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. Normally, baptisms are celebrated the third Sunday of each month, immediately following the 11 a.m. Mass.
What about weddings?
The Archdiocese of Detroit requires that all marriages must be arranged at least six months before the wedding date. Most weddings are celebrated on Fridays - usually after 4 p.m. or on Saturdays at 12:30 p.m. or 2:30 p.m. We do not celebrate weddings on Sundays nor during Lent or Advent. We will put your wedding date on our parish calendar only after you have received and read our wedding book.
When do children have the opportunity to receive the Sacraments?
First Holy Communion usually occurs in the Second Grade (in the spring). First Reconciliation usually occurs in the Fourth Grade. While concepts of forgiveness are introduced in the second grade, the Sacrament is not formally celebrated until the Fourth Grade. Confirmation occurs in the Eighth Grade.
When is the Sacrament of Reconciliation available?
There are three possible alternatives. (1) Individual Reconciliation takes place on Saturdays at 3:30 p.m. (2) Individual Reconciliation by appointment is also available (Please call the Parish Office and ask for a priest). (3) Communal Reconciliation is available during Advent and Lent. Please see the parish bulletin for details.
How do adult Catholics complete their sacraments? What about non-Catholics who are interested in becoming Catholic? What is the process?
Everyone is different! So too, is the process. We strive to meet every individual's need.
How are funerals arranged?
Father Steve and the Parish Staff will do everything possible to help you through this difficult time. You can be assured that you will be treated with compassion and respect. Assistance will be offered in planning funeral liturgy. Please check with parish office for availability of a funeral luncheon. Typical funeral times are 9:00 a.m. & 10:00 a.m. Most funerals are preceded by a half-hour viewing of the body and closing prayers in the Gathering Area of the church complex.
What about prayers for people who are ill?
Absolutely! Call the parish office for inclusion in the Prayer List in the parish bulletin.
